Now that was a great conference....what will come out of BCC will depend on our determination to be heard and share the information on the 'funding' issues and how it will affect the sector as and when the govt responds to the consultation in the autumn

I wouldn't know where to start reporting on it ...but I know that June O'Sullivan will blog on this soon.
At the same time as BCC...the North West was doing its Ofsted Big Conversation meeting with 600 attendees....so the 2 sites were exchanging tweets.

I have to keep reminding myself that a lot of the changes that have taken place are due to the 'pressure' put on Ofsted to be accountable and that is thanks to OBC...so BCC has a chance to succeed too if we get involved and care about the sustainability of our settings and...the main message from BCC... our quality.

Forgot to say this...one of the main messages I took from BCC is this...as clearly said by one of the speakers when she spoke about what providers do in terms of practice and evidencing good quality at inspections and why
'what we do is NOT for Ofsted...it is for the children'...music to our ears.

'Are you with me'? ....blog by June O'Sullivan on the Big Childcare Conversation conference

    https://www.leyf.org.uk/blog/are-you-with-me/
June's message was to Agitate, Educate, Organize, Invest, Unite.

This may be, at first, a confusing message as we ask 'what has this got to do with the 30 hours of childcare'?...read June's previous blog 'Organise, Agitate and Educate' and it will be clearer what the message is about: quality

For those interested here is a blog by a Montessori man who attended the conference....it is such a shame we do not have a video of the dance at the end of the day...that was a crackers !

The Male Montessorian: The Big Childcare Conversation

I get the feeling...and it is my personal opinion...that Big Childcare Conversation has the same effect Big Ofsted Conversation had when it first started...people were reading about it but not really imagining what it would turn out to be as a medium to bring Ofsted to the table and make them accountable for the mess ....OBC has travelled very far.

BCC will be the same once the govt starts to respond to the Funding review....it is a shame it clashed with OBC in the NW otherwise a lot of those attending would have come down to London.

Keep reading and keep informed and ...if you can...get involved and attend!
