    Default British values

One of the new judgements in the Common Inspection Framework - under leadership and management - will be how well the provider promotes British values.

Whether you agree with the title 'British values' or think it should be 'civil values' or something else entirely is not up for debate - the DfE are calling it British values and we have to get on with it!

Childcare.co.uk have published the following guidance for all childminders to access - https://www.childcare.co.uk/informat...british-values.

If you have any questions please ask

I also got 10 out of 10 on the citizenship test linked from your blog. I have to admit I thought I guessed on two questions, but maybe I did really know them.

I still think, nothing Sarah mentions is rocket science and is what we/most of us normally do, but with a fancy new heading!!!!!

Should we wait until after the general 'election' to see whose British Values count?

I suspect the Greens will have a different set of British Values to Nige's Neo-Fascists (sorry, I mean UK Intolerance Party.)

No Bunyip we will just get on with it and nod in the direction of St David's Day with a focus on St George's Day and teach all the children to share and stand in queues while singing 'Rule Britannia' by next Friday and we will not be swayed by who has the greenest grass

Oh - are we meant to 'do' St David's Day? I thought they were still the enemy.

I'm a little out of touch since the 100 Years War.

The daffodils are from Wales Sarah, but I think the soup is from our North of the border friends- the ones with the amazing tablet and pineapple tarts

Not sure about daffodils in the soup, Sarah. Wasn't there a similar incident at a school recently?................... BBC NEWS | England | Suffolk | Pupils ill after bulb put in soup

    Thorntons do it.

At least they do a version which is pure sugar and fat. I believe the proper Scottish recipe is pure sugar and fat with added sugar and fat.

OK - As a real Scot brought up on home-made tablet, you've shamed me into sharing one of my favourite recipes with all of you.

    Enjoy!

    Authentic Scottish Tablet

(Warning - eat this and your dentists will love me forever!)

The deep-fried Mars Bar is a bit unsubstantial. If you want a decent feed, you really need to first of all polish off a deep-fried pizza supper. (That's deep-fried pizza and chips to you. I grew up on that stuff and I'm still as skinny as a rake - and that's actually true!)

I've never actually had a deep-fried Mars Bar, but they do exist. I've seen them on the menu of a Glasgow chippie.

But then, in Glasgow, you can also get Deep-fried Pineapple rings in the local Chinese Restaurant. (And they're gorgeous, before you ask!) Oh yes, and everything on the menu comes with chips.

(When I first came down to London, someone took me to an Italian restaurant. We had pizza and I looked at my plate in disappointment and shock. I had the biggest pizza on my plate, but I still asked: "Where's the chips?" I genuinely thought everything came with chips here as well.)

Go for the tablet - it's amazing. I grew up on that as well (and my dentist always tells me I must have a really good diet as my teeth are in terrific nick. How does that work?)

Hello - try this (easy peasy) recipe. (From a fellow Scot who also happens to miss Tablet.)
