From my understanding - it is the NHS which is it's own worst enemy in cases like this - I presume it was an NHS dentist, if not I apologize and I am astounded that a private dentist would do this.

I have to stick up for dentists though - I have an excellent, fantastic, exceptional dentist who knows his stuff. He is a private dentist and refuses to take on any more NHS patients because he cannot provide the care the patient needs on the payments he receives for the work he does plus ALL the bureaucratic paperwork that goes with it. My children have always been welcomed and encouraged to attend from a young age and as soon as they had teeth - granted it was always on the back of my appointment and yes I have had to pay for them, but I would rather that than not get treatment or not get the treatment that is needed.

My darling dentist is very 'YORKSHIRE' and says it as it is and quite frankly he states that he would not rely on the NHS to provide the quality, quantity and time to provide a good service to it's patient and after years of attending NHS dentists I must say I am inclined to agree. I am not saying they are not capable of providing an excellent service I am saying - sadly they are not able to financially provide the best service for their patients through the NHS.

Just as good as the advice given to parents that 'all children must bring their willies to the setting' in case of rain!!!
