Hubby very nearly said 'proper job' once...... only once! Grrrr!!!!
i thought this was ridiculous but people may disagree.
on my pre reg the inspector told me i must get rid or empty my 3ft tall bird bath every day, yes i know a child can drown in an inch of water (which is all it held!) but it is 3 ft high and to be honest a bit wobbly and unless a tall enough child actually stood by it and stuck their face in and kept it there for a few minutes it causes no danger! absolutley no way could a child 'fall' into it.
i ignored her and my proper grading inspector didnt even comment on it
i was once given the action of 'working with the local preschools & nurseries' ... yes i will, when any child i am looking after goes to one! at that point, all mindees were 2 & under! ( or at school! and i did work with the teachers )
This ones a bit the other way round - my Care Commission officer told me of a cm that she had just registered who told her that her (the cm) dad had said that he didnt know how she could have all the kids around every day.
The cm told the CC officer that her reply had been " don't look at them as kids, look at them as £ signs"!!
Needless to say the CC kept a close eye on her after that!
i was told i didnt get the outstanding cos i didnt have any formal training in phonics and didnt do phonics....er....i sing and talk to the children, read books etc...
and they were all under 2 at the time
mandy xx
The bats have left the bell tower.....
I was given the action of turning my A4 attence register into A5 to make it more portable by the inspector AND she actually wrote this on my report! Could she not think of anything better and surely its my problem not a requirement

I was told by an inspector only to leave one bottle of shampoo out in the bathroom incase the children drank it, did she really think a child would down one bottle and start on another!
Um.... Safety cones????

Oh my kids regularly drink bottles of shampoo and shower gel, followed by tubes of toothpaste for pudding lol

Back in the days before Ofsted a friend of mine was pulled up about her fish bowl (I say bowl because that is what it was not a tank) and the inspector was concerned that a child might put their head in and drown! Now I come to the best bit she suggested my friend cover the top with clingflim My friend had to explain how this would deprive the fish of oxygen and kill it!

I was told that my hanging basket next to the front door was a danger as the ivy could grow and strangle a child - how long does she think it takes me to answer the door!!!!!
This is a really funny thread!
My inspector who never read my sef gave me the action to get more multicultural resources. I had bilingual books and stories with people from all backgrounds. There were puzzles and toys portraying a variety of cultures, cd's with music from different countries, multicultural dolls, dressing up. My children and I are Swedish, I have got artefacts from around the world are up on my walls and shelves, laminated photos from my travels (and other's). I have got three university courses in Intercultural Communication!
When I pointed some of it out he said, well perhaps you could still get some more?
