I have advertised everywhere i can think of and waiting for calls (nothing yet) so i was wondering has anyone had any luck with leaflet drops in their neighbourhood.

I have printed of some leaflets. I did 100 pages and cut them down the middle so i now have 200. It hasn't made much difference to my ink levels, so i think it is worth it.
I am going to go down my road, as there are lots of families and down roads that look like they have kids, etc.
let me know how you get on Sandra
I did leaflet drops when i first started my very first mindee was from a leaflet drop so it did work for me.

I used to leaflet drop for Avon ( good times eh T???? NOT!!) and learnt a few tricks
Do not fall into trap of only targetting houses that look like they have children - a home with a young baby will not have toys on garden for example - do not shy away from obvuiously older homes - you might post a leaflet through the door of a grandparent, or friend, these are not wasterd as they will pass them on.
Do NOT place any lealets under car wipers - you could be accused of damamging and your contact details are on there to get you with!
A good place to drop is actually standing in town, you can then target people with the ages of children you are intereested in, and because they essentially are all coming to you - it is quicker and more time efficient Plus then you have face to face contact and if anyone is interested there and then, whip out your diary and get their details & make an appointment!
Hope it goes well
Good ideas Lou
Good luck Kerry

Or how about standing close to the local schools that you could collect from, giving them out at the local mother and toddler groups etc.
And do you wear a badge when you are out and about???? NCMA do a couple of badges, they might prompt people into making enquiries about you.

If you have any rings, take them off when leafelt dropping by the way, the amount of times I nearly lost my engagement ring in peoples stupid letterboxes!!
Someone round my way has just done a leaflet drop, and added her Ofsted number!!!!!!!!!!!!! A BIGGGGGG NONO ????????????
Was told at ICP, that all someone needs to claim childcare payments through tax credits, is your ofsted number! One of my 'mums' saw the leaflet and picked up on it straight away, cos she claims.
I know you need to give it so them at some point, but we were told not to advertise it. (sorry, ofsted number!)
This was a newly qualified childminder though, so maybe they aren't so worried about it at the icp anymore!
As my son would say, I NONO!

one of my kids his mum claims and i think she is and has been claiming for tother days not just the ones he comes to me

You can report her annoymously (sp?) if you want to. There is a thread from a while back with the telephone no for childminders to check that people are not claiming against their reg no. incorrectly. I rang it to tell of someone who came and left their child with me at the last min for 1 day and I never heard from them again. You dont get to hear the outcome but they dont know it is you that has reported them.

Rascal,
Have you ever had anyone from Tax credits call you to check details? This mum been claiming full time fees for over 6 months and I kinda expected them to check by now! (Not that there is any problem or anything!)
I'm sure I heard that they do random checks, but don't know anyone who has ever been contacted!
Jinny
i was hoping they would ring me and check
but dont shout when i say this i could kick myself now
she had paid for 2 days 30.00 at the end of last month for this week
she said i dont need you tomorrow so wanting an easier day i said ok ill give you 15.00 back and ill have an easier day
it took me 2 days of it niggling in my head to realise it had already been paid to her and i gave her some more
what a silly cow i am
but i have that much going on at the moment i cant concentrate and i went and did this

Don't be too hard on yourself! We've all done it... well I know I have!
I dropped some leaflets through letterboxes today.
i am getting really desperate now. have advertised on all websites adviced on here, shop windows, clinics still nothing. will do nurserys and schools on Monday when they go back after Easter break
I have a list of recomended places to advertise from the ICP course but alot of these places wont advertise businesses.
I think i will stand outside leisure centre when parents are dropping their children off to sports classes and ask them if they would be interested i got nothing to lose
what about asking at the council offices or are their any big factories or shops you can add them
free local paper
just thinking of other places
are their other childminders in your area you could talk to?
