    Default Childminders in Aussie

Well, it seems that our dream of emigrating to Australia has reared its head again.

I was initially reluctant because moving country was one of the most stressful things I have ever done and to do it all again, just because we feel like it ........

But ......... well I am excited about it now. We are probably only looking at applying later in 2010, but does anyone know of any childminders out there. I have had a bit of a look on the web, but I don't seem to be able to find what I am looking for (probably cos they don't do childminding there )

A local childminder moved out there earlier this year and I spoke to her friend the other day and she said she has found a job in a nursery so you maybe right about them not having childminders but there must be something similar

When a friend went for 9 months with her DHs work, 2 kids went too. Settled them into schools and speaking to other parents it seemed 'childminders' - not sure of the name, got jobs through an agency which they were checked out by.

Parents contacted agency and they found out who was available in the area. Not quite so personal as we do here.

This was 5 or so years ago so things may have changed.

My sister is/was a childminder in Perth. All states have different rules for everything so i expect childminding will be the same. You need to find the area you want and search the local council.

Need more help please pm me and I will ask her to get me details.

That sounds like the sort of thing. Sounds a sensible system with training etc

I found this when I was looking http://www.familydaycare.com.au/

My Brother lives in Sydney & wants us to move out. He runs a business helping people to emigrate & keeps sending us the visa forms. Unfortunately DH is an only child & his parents are ill so it is bad enough being 5 hours away from them without moving to the other side of the world. We will think again in the future though.

its called family day care in australia and it seems you have to join a local scheme who refer parents who need childcare to you, think you have to have the same hourly rate etc too. Ive looked into it a bit and got some help from the daycarer.com website.

Hubby and i lived in oz for 12mths 6yrs ago on a working holiday visa, ive a brother and a sister out there so we still have a dream of moving over there one day, though with the hold on visa's, rules changing and the terrible $ rate i cant see this happening anytime soon for us.

    good luck

    Hi

Good luck to you if you decide to go for it

It has been one of my dreams for a while now but I can't see it happening somehow yet "Inlaws"

Anyway, whilst I was on the search I come across this website

    http://daycarer.com/forum/phpBB-3.0....pBB3/home.php#

It's like this forum, you can talk to childminders all over Australia. Really helpful too
