i wont actually be re-reg by xmas this year so have it all off. but in the past i have actually worked xmas for one mindee it was someone who my hubby worked with and at the time they were working with search and rescue and both had to be in work by 9am xmas morning. and so that the lo could spend xmas morning with daddy i said i would have him as hubby was in work. otherwise lo would have been taken 2 days before on a 6 hour drive to grandparents (who didnt really want him there ) . the men were lucky enough to join us for xmas dinner (while on call) they went back to work then home to spend a couple of hours with lo before bed. but normally i wouldn't work xmas day and would normally finish 22/23 dec

Think I will be done at 5.30 on 24th.
I have not put in for any extra hols, so I will go with the flow.
I will def not be working Christmas Day or Boxing Day, or News Years Day.

Sally & I finish at 5:30 on the 18th Dec and start up again on the 4th January. It is planned to have a nice family break but the best laid plans never seem to happen, so we will just have to wait and see.

18th, end of term for my term time only mindee.

Got new contract to be signed next week and as they will be paying retainer for next 2 months the place is theirs if they need it. I don't mind doing some if they need me up to 23rd. Have already said I don't work between Christmas and New Year.

Back to normal with the schools in Jan - I guess the 4th?

Well last Xmas was my first xmas minding and I only booked off xmas day, boxing day and NYD. I thought I should be as flexible as possible for working parents. I got no thanks for it and taken the mickey out of basically with yes they are coming, no they aren't, I don't want to pay you blah blah.

So from this year onwards I am taking the whole time off! I've had a few comments about parents still needing to work but tough, I need the break and I am going away

I finish on 22nd Dec and reopen on Monday 4th Jan, although that is supposed to be a bank holiday in Scotland, so maybe I won't be needing to work it

I usually finish when the schools do and go back when they do. As they seemed to be finishing early this year (18th) I offfered to work Monday and Tuesday (21st & 22nd) as they are off for a week before christmas do I thought it might help. Only had one parent on each day take me up on offer which means I will be working for just one child on each day, so won't be making offer next year!!!!

I'm finishing on 17th this year as I don't work Fridays. Going to Centre Parcs for 5 days and then enjoying Xmas and not back at work until 4th Jan. I am really looking forward to it. For the last goodness knows how many years I have worked Xmas Eve but not this year

i will be working up until i am needed - think my mindees parents might take xmas eve off but haven't asked them yet.
was planning on taking 30th and 31st off as we are going to devon for new years eve but dh has convinced me to work both days as i am needed by one family and he is worried they'll give notice if i don't.
    Blessed Be!

I don't know yet. Playing it by ear at the moment as I am contracted to work full time in the holidays for my older mindees but mum has been off sick since before the schools went back after the summer holidays. I would like the 24th off though

Not sure yet - will probably take days off between Xmas and New Year but will wait and see if needed.

I will ask this week about everybody's holiday plans so that I can make our plans.

i feel really strongly that xmas time is time i want to spend with my family - i have been made to feel guilty in the past about taking holidays and have ended up working during my planned holidays but this really is not fair on my own boys so from now on im standing firm.

i give plenty of notice of when my holidays are - i'm only taking a week at xmas when i could take 2 if i wanted so i think im being fair - and will never be "bullied" into working during my holidays again esp. xmas.
