    Default Help...inclusion

I'm filling in my initial assessments forms to join the local childminding network. I'm OK on most of it but I'm struggling to come up with a short snappy definition for what 'inclusion' means. I can come up with a huge long winded one but can't seem to shorten it

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

Ensuring each child is catered for individually ... as a unique child.

Read the card for principle 1.2 in your Eyfs pack - that should give you some more ideas

Thanks Sarah - knew I could rely on you to come up with an answer. I kept thinking of ones but they sounded too similar to what I had writtenfor 'equality of opportunity'

I always think it's the difference between saying...

    a. We treat every child the same here and...

    b. We treat every child differently here depending on their unique abilities, thoughts, learning styles, individual needs, likes and dislikes and taking into account their parents wishes and any other requirements they might have.

My network co-ordinator explains it as :

Equal Ops = treating everyone equally

Inclusion = removing barriers to allow everyone to take part .

That's a good way to explain it!

Every child should be treated the same, but in a different way.
