My only mindee is leaving today

Just had a phone call from mindees mum saying that she doesn't need childcare after today.
We only signed the contract just over a week ago, she was a student for the NHS but because her CRB is not back she can not continue with the course but to start againin march 2009.I had no idea of this when signing the contract. Its my only mindee and fulltime

Sorry to hear this - it's hard when there doesn't seem to be any work around.

Everyone here will tell you the same thing - mindees are like buses, suddenly you'll get a spate of them coming along.

Do you have a little one of your own (or can you borrow one?!) to go to toddler groups with to get your name known. Word of mouth is good in this business.

Oh dear we cannot make them be straight with us - or perhaps she hadn't realised herself - blinking CRB checks can be so so slow - Gosh they have a lot to answer for people with paperwork festering on their desk and not chasing it up just don't realise the knock on effect it has.

I'm sure something will come up soon.

I totally agree with getting into the toddlers groups - do you have one thats just for childminders in your area, I found these great when I was starting out x
