    Default How is everyone?

    Hope you are all good!

I've just had a week off and then I'm back at it on Monday - this time, for the first time I am having a schoolie. That means no nap time breaks for the summer, but other than that it will be lovely to see him again (old mindee). A couple of my parents took advantage of my week off to potty train their little ones, so that should be interesting.

We're loving the Olympics. Are you all watching?

    Hi Maza

I thought the same about my week off, it went far too fast. I was back to work last week but had a bonus day off thanks to some children off on holiday but its normal week this coming week. I have a mix of schoolies and little ones, most of my little ones are term time only so its nice to have some of the older ones in. I haven't enjoyed any nap time breaks for a while now

We hadn't watched too much of the olympics up until yesterday.

This week we are off to the beach and we will be visiting the local care home, anyone else got any plans?

    How are the holidays going?

I have started having some of my new ones in this week for their settling in sessions ready for starting properly in September. I have 3 new ones starting including a baby so I have to get used to having little ones again We haven't used the pushchair for a while now so better get that out and give it a check over!

Enjoy the bank holiday weekend, I have an extra day off as we are going away for a few days.

Hi there. I’m off this week and have spent the last three days in the garden. Raining today though. Children back next Tuesday but as the 3 little ones are on holiday I’ve only got to work Tuesday and Wednesday summer hols have gone quick. We are back on the 4th September.

I'm off next week, so I have a couple of things planned with DD. I find it's harder to think of things to do with your children once they are teenagers - there seemed to be so much more we could do when she was younger in terms of local events and trips.

Pixie, I had to get used to having little ones again once all my pre-schoolers left last year, and I ended up preferring it, which took me by surprise. Made all the sweeter by the funding rates for little ones now too!

I've got a baby sibling starting in September and so her mum is coming in for a stay and play half hour session as part of the settling in. I've suddenly got all paranoid about my playroom not being up to scratch. You do look at things with different eyes once a new adult is coming in who you know will be analysing everything!

It will be good to get into a routine again come September. The good thing about having little ones is that they all nap, so I do have some time in the day to breathe and get a coupe of jobs done. Having older ones over Summer meant no down time at all during the day.

Enjoy the last week of the holidays everyone!

I wrote a long reply, and it vanished and forum logged me out !!!

I've had a bit of a summer. I had an unexpected family bereavement, and have since been travelling 4 hours plus at weekends to see/support my mum. I did also go on holiday which was bliss. I've been working though, and had so much fun with all the children. I've had them all since they were babies, and they now range from 20 months to 11 1/2yrs! We been for lots of days out, regardless of the weather, and its been great. That said, I am looking forward to the routine of school/school runs again. Luckily, they are ALL staying, and for the first time in years, I don't have any new starters. Which is just as well, as at this present time, I'm not sure I've quite got the brain space!

Maza, I know what you mean! When my own children got older ( and still now! ) anything they want to do seems to entail a fair amount of driving/travelling and cost a small fortune! They didn't want to just go to the library/feed the ducks! It tends to be that I can entice them out for a walk, as long as food is also involved It's going to be odd at home though, as despite DS being away at Uni for the past few years, this has still been home, but he graduated this year, and starts a new/first job in London next week. He's moving into a flat share and apart from occasional weekends, he won't really be 'home' as he'll just have 'normal' work holidays, not uni holidays! going to miss him. DD is moving back to London for uni soon too. It's going to be quiet here

    enjoy the last week everyone

Oh so sorry to hear about the bereavement loocyloo. It's exhausting travelling so much at weekends too. Big changes for you with your son as well! I guess parents are quite lucky if they get to experience their children doing the uni bit as it eases us in gently (a bit) to them moving out. I'd still be an emotional wreck though - hope you are ok. x

I still get like that when mine come home to visit or we visit them as they both have moved away because of work. I miss the fact that we can't just go out for dinner or have a family day together.
