Roughly, how old are children when you let them experiment with scissors?

I usually start off with playdough scissors and 'worm' shaped dough, but I can't remember what age.

    Ummmm ... I don't know!

I have some plastic ( useless ) scissors in my playdough tools box .... if they show interest, I show/ help them use them.... but it's generally my 3/4 yr olds who start having any control.

I also like to use fairly sharp scissors and thin card/ cereal boxes cut into strips to encourage them the snip bits off. This is my 4 yr old s favourite activity. He takes home bags of 'confetti'

Before that I do some playing with pegs to get a bit of a pincer action going.
