Default Do full timers still exist?

How many of you have full timers?

I get mostly part time requests. I have one who comes 5 days a week but he leaves at 4pm. I used to class full timers as 5 days a week, approx 8am - 6pm, but do they still exist for childminders? Do people who need those hours tend to choose nannies or nurseries?

I do get enquiries for full timers (5 long days a week), but I only want part timers so have to turn them away.

I've always had mainly part timers with just the odd full timer here and there. I like the variety through the week.

I have mainly part timers who do 2 or 3 days a week plus one full timer who is 8am-5pm 5 days a week. All recent enquiries have been for part time hours.

I only do 4-4.30 nowadays but don’t really get enquires for long day full timers anyway. Think mothers/parent/carer ( thought better put that way!) only tend to go back to work 2-3 days now .

Also are you all funded Childminders? I would like to become one as now having more preschoolers then school children. So far sent off LOP not done anything else as not sure what and how I apply. Got LA phoning to go through it later on in week. Is it complicated?

I think it depends on your local area ...I take funded children and every year we have to sign an agreement with the LA, we have to send then copies of certain policies safeguarding/admissions/charging plus sample copy of invoice to parents. We have a termly funding form parents have to complete and we get paid monthly. We have a county portal where we have to upload all our funded hours on to at the start of each term.

I’ve done funding for a long time now. It’s certainly easier to do than it used to be.

Hopefully your LA will go through it all with you. I think they all have their own way of doing it, but being online makes it a lot more straightforward.

I'm funded. I have an online portal that I put details on, and get paid monthly. Each year I have to sign an agreement with County to provide the funded hours.

I have 2 children who do 3 days 8-6, several who do 2 days 8-5 and a couple of others who come for one day. The shortest day 'offer' is school hours.
I only work 4 days a week but haven't had a request for full time for a long time ( often get asked for the day I don't work though 'couldn't you ...' NO! )

I'm not funded Dragonfly. When I lived in London there was so much business that I didn't consider funding. Where I live now though there is a lot less business and so I considered funding a while ago. I asked the same question on Facebook and so many minders said it was a nightmare and they didn't want to offer it after their current children left. I decided not to go for it just yet. It does seem to depend on your LA though as to how simple/difficult it is, as people on this post seem to have fairly positive experiences of it.

I rarely (never) get full time requests anymore. I think these days everyone ropes in Granny or manages to get a day off a week to care for their child.
