Default Safeguarding handbook - new guidance!

DfE released the following safeguarding handbook for inspectors - https://www.gov.uk/government/upload...s_settings.pdf

They also released a guide to the changes from the previous version - https://www.gov.uk/government/upload...t_Aug_2016.pdf

A lot of the stuff in the handbook and changes list caused confusion at LA level and with providers so we now have this in Nursery World magazine -

It's good to be informed ... it's good to stay updated ... we are used to being confused!

There are still a few new bits in the inspecting safeguarding handbook.

What Ofsted seem to be saying is that because they are not in the Eyfs ... they are good practice rather than statutory ...

If I have read it right!

The Ofsted Big Conversation raised the issues and have been campaigning for clarification ever since the handbook was released - we are delighted that Gill Jones has given this article to Nursery World

    Thank you.
I couldn't see anything that HAD to be done and everything else seemed like current 'good practice' !
