    Default Charging for after schoolers

Do you charge a flat rate for after schoolers or simply by the hour they attend? Do you include a meal in your flat rate fee? What hours does your flat rate fee span if you do one?

I am a fool to myself as i run both ways depending on the requirements. I have most of my families on hourly fees and charge additional for food.

I also have a family which I am moving over to an inclusive fee from september as the child has a humungous appetite and can quite happily eat 3 helpings of dinners which are already the same size as OH and trust me my OH is larger than he should be lol. So this fee includes the food.

I have quite recently started charging a flat rate of £10 AS which includes a cooked meal. My pricing is the same as the school AS club but they only get a snack there. Saying that, I currently only take on schoolies that have been with me as EYs children.

I charge for a minimum of 2 hours but as Im a soft touch this covers them for the extra 15 minutes if they stay to half 5. Anything over this gets charged an extra hour. I don't do a meal within that

I used to charge a flat fee but decided yesterday to move to an hourly rate (min 2 hrs charge). My reason for the change is, on a flat rate nearly all my mindees stay until 6pm. Whereas if I changed hourly I think some of the mindees would be picked up closer to half 5. I would like the majority of children to be picked up earlier if poss and only the parents who have to pick up at 6 doing so. Hopefully this will work. I also include dinner which currently all of my mindees stay for whereas on an hourly fee parents may decide for them to eat at home with family. Good luck with your decision :-)

Before or after school = £10. Includes up to 2 hours' care and meal if here when served.

Before and after school = £15. Includes up to 3 hours' care and both meals if here when served.

I used to do hourly/individual arrangements, but it got crazy dealing with who wanted full meal/snack/nothing, etc. etc. The final straw was the mum who wanted 15 minutes' care (yes really) and to pay £1 for it.

I've previously let myself get talked into stupid situations such as a reduced rate for A's school run because I was already taking B to school, so why not? Great piece of business until B drops out and A's mum doesn't see the logic that she should now pay full whack.

I offer a fixed rate for an hour before school including breakfast if wanted and a separate fixed rate for up to 3 hours after school including dinner if wanted, or a slightly lower than combined cost for both sessions. I do find kids tend to stay late and eat here but I would rather that than some being left out or parents picking up during our meal which I find quite disruptive. Providing a proper meal is my main attraction I think. Parents often ask if they could come earlier and stay for dinner. I've also been asked if I could cook more and offer a parents' takeaway service!

I have a flat rate that runs from school pick up time to 5.30pm - I am open until 6pm so if anyone wants the extra half hour my normal fees apply to the last half hour. I charge for meals so they have the option of a cooked meal or a keep you going snack after school.

You know, I've often thought we could make some sort of more realistic profit if we forgot all about charging for the hours and simply combined a trades-person's call-out fee with restaurant prices for the meals we serve.

I am new to this, but my after school mindee pays £20.00 per day inc dinner until 6pm.

In September I will have two b4 and after school both paying £30.00 per day each.

Current mindee eats me out of house and home might have to charge her extranin September

I am in Berkshire, the village I live in, the demand for childminders is huge, and we are a rare breed here, I am very fortunate.
