Paper plate craft ideas
anyone got any good ones? :-)
-
Why does it have to be a paper plate? Why can't it just be a circle? No matter what you do with a paper plate it still always looks like one......in my opinion!
But I suppose it's the process not the final product that's important.
If you have a load of left over paper plates from this week's barbecues in our Spring heatwave though, I totally understand your need to recycle them into art and craft activities!
I look forward to you all proving me wrong when you post your creative ideas.....because I have a batch of paper plates at the back of the cupboard...I always use ceramic ( comes from a DH whose family all live in the potteries, we have endless I don't mind if one gets broken dinner and tea sets in our house) because food rolls off paper plates and they are so difficult to cut anything on or balance with a glass of wine in the other hand- on second thoughts perhaps they were designed for art and craft activities???!!

I only use paper plates for sending home cookery 'experiments' on, or special clay/playdough models !
oh, I've thought of something I use them for ( but I agree, floradora, a circle of card would work as well! ) ... I punch holes round the edge and we use them for threading practice to make webs for spiders!

Paper plate Easter egg basket
Paper plate faces
Paper plate butterflies
Paper plate crocodile
Paper plate hot air balloon
Paper plate peekaboo bunny
Ermmmmm..... I think you can make anything out of a paper plate.
Nothing wrong with using different types of media to create arts n craft!

I use them for arts and crafts and also to stop squabbles over paint. I give each one a plate with dollops of different colour paints. Then then can mix colours if they want without others moaning because the red's got a splash of green in it. Also been use after painting this way as a photo frame with a childs photo in the centre to take home as a gift

Thanks guys, any ideas for egg boxes welcomed too! :-)

:-) lol!
Not so much for craft but use them for sorting activities, pattern making, matching games ( put a colour/shape/whatever in 'hole' and child adds theirs ) throwing ping pong balls ... counting/adding etc.
I'm also going to use individual 'holes' for sowing cress at the drop in I run.

Pretty sure there is a Facebook page for ideas and paper plates. I'll see if I can find it. Back in a mo.

It's called 1001 things to do with paper plates. It's a secret group (not sure why!) So you will have to ask to join. I just had a quick look and there are some nice ideas.

I have saved big egg boxes and cut them into long strips. We are going to make them into hairy caterpillars. Pop cotton wool into the egg hole and sprinkle cress seeds on. Add googly eye and pipe cleaners for antennae. Watch them grow into hairy caterpillars!

There is a Christmas craft where you stick lots of paper circles together and the make a 3d sphere shape. I have done it before with paper plates and made a huge ball. The kids were amazed!

cut them in half paint them and add a pipe cleaner handle to make rainy day umbrella pics - stick to a piece of paper/card and add raindrops above it!
with the other half paint and decorate it give it some eyes and add tassles of wool, strips of paper tissue etc to make a jelly fish!
punch holes all over them and weave wool through them....
Fold one over put pasta or something inside stick together decorate and you have a shaker...
usually if you google any kind of craft theme there is always something with a paper plate involved!
