    Default white witch

OK I'm all for Inclusion but.....

Had a parent come for an interview, as we went around my setting she asked about other faiths and then said that she and her daughters are White Witches, and did I have any objections??????????????

Can honestly say I was lost for words.

Is it just me, or do other people get requests like this?

I would have probably inundated her with lots of questions how interesting.

Cant say I have ever had an more alternative faith enquire but I think I might explode with excitement if someone told me they were a jedi

I have never had any out of the ordinary questions like that but it wouldn't bother me at all. I was very interested in all the white witch stuff when I was younger so other than asking her more about it I would be fine with it.

As long as they pay on time are respectful then I will go along with any faith. Although if I had someone tell me they were a white witch I would probably ask tomany questions and they would run for the hills.

Most families that visit me are shocked when they find out I'm catholic as there are absolutely no clues in my house. X

I was raised Catholic but last few years have more or less left the faith. Most my parents know I'm a spiritualist and am also training under a medium they are all very interested. I do have a crucifix and a sacred heart picture still up but no one seems to mind... I love getting other religions as love to see their views

I have a parent and child that are pagan witches, I just took if as that they are white, never asked but they are. They celebrate Yule,Halloween, the equinoxes, the solstices and something at Easter that I cant remember at the moment. She said they are hedge witches. I have had them fir 4 and half years no probs

My mum doesn't vaccinate, is veggie, and prefers natural remedies, and is home schooling. She also makes lovely soaps and stuff

They also have godess images and altars at home

Googled 'White witch' earlier. Now off to google 'Hedge witch'. It's fascinating. Can't believe my ignorance.

    White witchcraft = good
    Black witchcraft = evil/bad

There are different types of witches with different beliefs - hedge witch is one (some witches are wiccans or druids)

Pagan - not a believer of a "main religion", mainly believe in many gods/goddesses

I'm now totally hooked (and I don't mean that in a condescending way). I love the interaction with/knowledge of nature aspect of it all. I would love to know how they celebrate Halloween and Yule. I always like to do a Solstice activity with my little ones.

IMHO paganism is no worse than other forms of deeply-held irrational belief. In fact, it has many merits: not least the connection to life and growth, the natural world and the seasons, etc. It's probably a bit of a minority sport as it has failed over the years to accrue a sufficient bodycount to grab the headlines or fill the pages of history like a good ol' Inquisition, jihad or Thirty Years War can.

Whether you call it a 'religion' is really down to your frame of reference. In the sense of tax benefits, census counts, 'diversity' data and other bits of officialdom, you just need a lot of people to belief roughly the same collection of things for it to count. F'rinstance, I take a mild satisfaction from mucking up those meaningless 'equality & diversity' data bits on forms, as I know for a fact the data is frequently misused in practical terms. So I tend to tick all the 'other' boxes and list my religion as "Follower of the Great Prophet Zarquon" and my ethnicity as "Golgafrinchan", "Faerie Folk" or "Changeling". (I have to admit I'm always at a loss to know what 'other' could mean in the sense of gender/sexuality, but then I maybe have missed out on a lot of excitement in life. ) If enough people did the same, these would have to be added to the forms as 'official' religions/races/etc. This very nearly happened with the Jedi Knights over the last couple of national censuses.

Speaking as a Crazy, it's kind of comforting to know that belief systems are not so much judged on their merit and credibility, as by how many credulous victims can be drawn into a consensus of nonsense.
