Interviewing for apprentices today...
Any suggestions of questions? They are all 16-18 y o school leavers.
I thought I'd give some scenarios for them to comment on.... Any ideas?

I would give them time to play with children, the only way you can see how they interact.
Questions should be around safeguarding.
Charisma and passion for playing with children, basic education and instinct about safeguarding would be my focus at this stage, anything else you can train on the job.
Time keeping and reliability would be my questions for referees. you don't want someone who has a lot of time off school as you will be relying on them to be there everyday.

Agree with Flora
Also ask about confidentiality and use of social networking/ phones while there. Make sure they understand the boundaries

Hi, could you tell me where you got your contract f employment for the apprentice as I am struggling to find one. Would you mind if I messaged you and asked a few questions about apprentices. Helen xxx

That's fine Helen
YMCA rang me up out of the blue but they are a national group so you could google their number.
