    Default advice needed on assistants

During the school holidays I was thinking about using my sister as an assistant. She wouldn't be left alone with any of the kids apart from maybe my children. I'm not using her to increase numbers. It'd just be nice to have an extra pair of hands and eyes on trips out.
Would she have to do 1st aid and safeguarding training? Or would the dbs be enough?

    Hi,

I am only just doing the course to be a Childminder but I think she would need to be CRB checked and having First Aid be a plus. Ofsted will need to be informed I should think and it written in parent contracts so they aware too x

There's a link in free resources that explains a bit about assistants. I think just DBS would be ok as long as you weren't leaving your sister alone with the children at all (including in the same room if you left, even briefly) but I am very sleepy so I may not be reading it right.

Thanks. As long as atleast 1 person has a paediatric 1st aid cert then it's fine (I hope I read that right).

I believe you go on ofsteds site and fill in an ey2. That triggers the request for the dbs. Once done you get a letter of suitability back.
