In the last couple of months 3 childminders in my area have given up - I just wondered what it is like in your areas and whether you feel that all what is going on at the moment with regard to childminding has had an impact on their decision.

There were 5 CM's in my village a year ago & there are now just 3 with one of those only taking over 5's as she just can't face the additional paperwork for eyfs.
Not many new childminders around to replace them either, but I did hear that there was a new Polish CM in another village not far from me.

its pretty consistent where i am. we had 3 not working last year but that was due to maternity leave and they are all now back working.
When I was first registered 14 years ago there were about 6 in my village but now its just 3 of us.
We are all reasonably busy - I am full and have been for roughly most of the last 6 years so I can't complain.
I don't think its been particularly EYFS related its just that some peoples circumstances changed so they gave up minding.
I'm not paranoid - the world IS out to get me!
Numbers are dropping countrywide but standards are rising
