    Default Lining things up

Over the past week I have been observing my 2 year old mindee and he continually gets toys and lines them up in a perfectly straight line.

He doesn't order or group them in colour or size he just lines them up.

For instance we went to the beach last week and he created a perfectly straight long line of pebbles and then today he has done it with the toy cars but has used the door as a guide for a line.

I am wondering how you would expand on this, I have been trying to get him to get used to smaller and bigger, more and less. He uses the language but has not other understanding of it.

As Tink says it's a schema - a lining up or trajectory schema.

You can extend his fun by providing lots of things to line up and space so they don't get knocked over.

He will probably enjoy ball games, throwing, water play and other trajectory games too

My Mindee does this too. He also lines things up in one place and then moves them one by one to another

He loves the Brio style trainset I have as he gets to line up the track when he puts it together and then forms a long line with all the trains.
