I am a little confused by the over 8's ages - if you see what I mean.
Does the age group 5-8 include 8 year olds and then over 8's mean 9 and above?
Silly question but have an enquiry and want to get my numbers right.
Thanks

Over 8's is from the childs 8th birthday onwards :-)
It should also say on your certificate, as I contacted Ofsted last week because my daughter turned 8 at the weekend and have just received a certificate increasing my numbers.
My son will be 8 in November so could this affect my numbers ?
Also my daughter will start full time school Second week of September, she will be 5 in dissembler will this affect my numbers.
Thanks anyone had not thought about it till i read the above post.
It should effect the amount you can have. Both birthdays will effect the amount of children you can have between 5 & 8. It was my daughters birthday on saturday and I called last week and my new certificate came actually on her birthday! So just a few days before their birthday call ofsted and they will send out a new certificate with the changes. Hope this helps.
Thank you.
Have just had a conversation with someone else and have myself confused - again! If I have a mindee who is 8, do they count in the 5-8 group or not?
Sorry I will endeavour to be less confused shortly!
No, they count as an over 8. It's age 5 up until the child's 8th birthday.
The wording usually talks about registration being for "under 8s" rather than 5-8s. It makes it a bit easier if you think of it as being under 8s. Then, once the child reaches 8 they are no longer counted in you numbers as they are not under 8...IYSWIM!
Thank you Mouse!!!! I will remember that now.
