Default Do you charge or 30 mins?

I charge £3.00 per hour and I have a before & afterschool child starting in 2 weeks. I will pick him up at 3.30pm and drop him home at 6pm. I have put in my policies that I charge PER hour therefore I would charge £6.00 for 90 mins. Does anyone do similar or would you charge for 90 mins (£4.50)?
His mum never queried it but not sure if I am being tight xx

That's 2.5 hours!! No wonder mum didn't question it, you are giving 30 minutes for free!

Yes, I'd charge £9. I have it in my fees paperwork that I charge up to the next full hour, no half hours.

I do half hours but for those hours I would do a set fee of £10 - not worth the faffing

I used to charge for 30 mins but got sick of parents saying I dropped off at 9.10am and we picked up at 5.45, then I'd have to work it down to the last 50p, so this year I've stopped doing that and round up to the hour so if lo starts at 9.30 I charge from 9 and if they finish at 5.30 I charge til 6. I've explained why to parents and they all understood, it also gives them a little bit of time if they're stuck in traffic/late finishing work which happened a lot.
Having said that I do a set daily rate anyway so if lo is with me for over 8 hours it doesn't matter when they are dropped off or picked up!!!

I have children before/ after school and have a daily fee which
I charge regardless if they need just before, just after or both. Its simple! I am thinking of putting the rate up in september just a little i charge less than other settings. One parent has actually suggested this to me a few times but i've not liked to.

I do half hours, I used to charge per hours worked but now I've changed my policy to a minimum charge of £10 per day.
This was because I used to care for a little boy before school for 2 hours (7 til 9) 3 days a week and got paid £18 per week for it, had to get up earlier just to have him and tbh he was a right handful and the amount of times I questioned why I was torturing myself lol for £18 a week. x

    Hi ,
I charge for minimum half hour periods, so even if parents drop at say 7.40 am I would charge from 7.30; If they want to collect at 4.10 say, I'd still charge the full half hour, so till 4.30. I put the actual times they want to drop off and collect as contracted hours though.

If your policy is to charge full hours I would be expecting you to charge for 3 full hours rather than 2 to be honest. I charge for school collections from 3pm regardless of whether I collect at 3 or 3.15 ... and until 9am in the morning even if I drop at 8.40... Otherwise its just not worth it.

Hope you get it sorted so you're both happy

    best wishes,
    Wendy
