    Default Fees

Okay, I live in Fareham, Hampshire (mid-way between Portsmouth and Southampton).

I'm just setting up my website ahead of a September start date and want to include my fees. My website states that I'm on maternity leave but will have vacancies from September.

I want to keep the fee structure simple, so, how does this look?

    Fees (Babies and Pre-school Children)

£4.00 per hour (Minimum booking of 5 hours)

Fees (School Children - Term Time)

Before School (0730 – school drop off) - £10.00 (Flat fee)
After School (School pick up – 1800) - £15.00 (Flat fee)

Fees (School Children - Inset Days and Holidays)

£4.50 per hour (Minimum booking of 5 hours)

    Unsociable Hours

£7.00 per hour (Before 0730 and After 1800)

Also, I'm going to be offering overnight care. How much do others charge?

Looks fine. Personally I would change the wording of "minimum booking of five hours" to "minimum fee £20". Parents might think you aren't prepared to work for less than 5 hours when actually you probably won't mind working for say 3 hours as long as you are being paid for 5 - I'm just being picky though!

On my website I have put occasional overnight care at £40, but overnight care as part of a full time contract (over 30 hours) at £30 per night which is the same as my daily rate.

as above, you might want to consider a minimum daily fee.

So £4/hour for 6 hours plus but £5 hour for less than 6 hours per day
if you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got

Thank you ladies, that was the wording I was looking for 'minimum daily fee'. That sounds so much better.

My previous fee structure was so complicated - it looked like this:

    Fees (Babies and Pre-school Children)

General Hourly Rate: £4.50 per hour
(Care of less than five hours/extra hours)

Full Week : £175.00 (discounted hourly rate of £3.50)
    (Mon-Fri, 0800-1800)

Full Day: £37.00 (discounted hourly rate of £3.70)
    (0800-1800)

Half Day: £20.00 (discounted hourly rate of £4.00)
    (0800-1300 or 1300-1800)

    Fees (School Children)

Before School (0730 – school drop off): £10.00 (Flat fee)
After School (School pick up – 1800): £15.00 (Flat fee)

School Inset Days and Holidays: £4.50 per hour

    Hi Rosebud

How many hours is this for?

I was thinking of charging £40 for 12 hours (since hopefully most of the hours they will be asleep) with arrival between 7 pm and 8 pm and departure between 7 am and 8 am.

    Katrina x
