    Default Occasional overnight care

    Hi All
I've applied to Ofsted to provide occassional overnight care for a mindee as mum is really struggling to find someone to have LO when she has to go away with work and has asked if I would mind doing it on an adhoc basis as long as I can fit LO in with my plans. However I have no idea what to charge for this.

    Do I;

    1) Charge my normal contracted rate as this is how I do my 9-5 contracts so to speak - a set rate each hour as one day to the next can be different, but with a minimal amount of hours each day
    2) Do a set rate from after 1800 on the night LO will be staying to whatever time the next day - as mum is going to be quite far away I am presumming that pick up will not be until the early afternoon and LO will have to come with me to my plans at the weekend as it is Friday night into Saturday.

Obviously this is dependant upon Ofsted giving me the go ahead but Id like to have my ducks in a row so to speak before I approach the invoicing side of things.

    Thanks all

    BuggsieMoo.

I do occasional overnight care for my mindees. I have a set overnight rate which is £35 from about 7pm - 9am. Then I charge my normal hourly rate of £4/hour for any additional hours.

I charge £30 for 7pm - 7am. These times are because I 'normally' work 7.30am - 5.50pm so wanted a small amount of time in between to allow for late picks ups etc and not be over my numbers.

I normally charge £3p/h in the day so it's slightly cheaper overnight but i've never had anyone use it!

Thanks all - LO's normal hours on a Friday are 0930 - 1530. Mum is wanting me to have little one from 0730 on the Friday till 1200 noon on the Saturday.

Have no idea how to charge this. Was thinking my set hourly rate from 0730 - 1830 and then a set amount from 1830 on the Friday to 12 noon on the Saturday but have no idea how much...........my hourly rate puts it at around £80'ish which is clearly far too much. Do I halve this?

Never had overnight before and to be fair I want to work out a rate for set hours so that if I have to do it again im not in this pickle x

Well Ofsted have approved my variation request to have LO overnights (yippeeeee ) and ive decided that as it is £80+ at my normal hourly rate for the time period to charge £40 for this period which mum is happy with.

Really pleased that Ofsted granted this and in 2 days of making an application - Well Done Ofsted

Thank you all for your words of wisdom x

I was wondering what to charge for overnight care. 50% of my normal rate for the time sounds like a good idea. Well done Ofsted for such a quick turn around, now you'll just have to get the overnight risk assesment done (I'm yet to do mine).

    Thanks.

Ive done the RA as I had to include it with my overnight request and how I would keep the LO safe. However, will see if it is adequate for the first overnight and if not, improve on it.

LO is now teething so I have a feeling Friday is going to be a very long night for me
