    Default changing hours

One of my charges currently comes for 3 full days a week (7.30 - 5.30). He is going to nursery soon for 3 hours a morning on those 3 days. His dad will drop him off and I will pick him up and them have him until normal finishing time (12 - 5.30). During school holidays, I will have him for the normal 10 hours a day.

Would you charge a retainer to keep his morning place available so that it is there for the school holidays or would you just charge for the 5.5 hours that he is in my care?

I had the same situation last year and charged a 50% retainer for the mornings. I explained to the parents that as the place would be left open for their child to use in the holidays I couldn't fill it with another child. I had a fab relationship with them and they were happy to pay.
