Is this a silly question: Can we charge ourselves for our own kids?

Iv recently found out i was pregnant and due in March. Iv been looking at SMP and benefits im entitled to etc. iv been looking at the childcare element of child tax credits when i thought, could i charge myself for my baby as it (hate calling it lol) will obviously be taking up a full time place.
So basically my quesion is can i "charge" myself for my baby then claim back?
I asked my partner and he just laughed lol so it may be me just looking into things a bit too much but its worth asking isnt it

No sorry. You can claim to send a child to another registered carer BUT your own numbers will still be down because your own child is still your responsibility so you will still lose a space and have to pay more than you recieve to someone else.

No you can't ...you can claim EYE at 2 years (depending on your area), but 3 & 4 years in all areas if you are accredited though!

Wow ! you would be charging childcare 24 hrs a day and double time for Bank Holidays and Christmas Day ! Nobody would need to work, we'd all end up having families like The Waltons . Britain would end up even more in debt

To be fair, she didn't mean she wanted to claim childcare costs 24 hours a day

And saying nobody would need to work is wrong as you wouldn't be able to claim childcare costs if you weren't working!

Hi, just wanted to say, although we cant i do think its quite unfair!

iv got 2 under 5s so losing out on 2 fulltime places (£200p/w approx), other people going to work get costs for their childcare, but we are working, providing our own childcare an get no help from the goverment for our lack of earnings!

Just my opinion, i dont think your daft for asking at all!! Think we should protest to get it changed

I wish we could. I have a 2 1/2 year old and am expcting twins at the end of the year. Bang goes my 3 under 5 places. Ive already got to get ofsted to change it so i can have 2 under 1s.
