Default Do you charge for settling in?

Please let me know if you charge for settling in times.

I have a 8 month baby starting next week. He is coming over on Monday for about 2 hours to settle him in slowly. He has already been over with his Mum and I fed him, to make sure he is ok with me. If it doesn't go well, I will have him for a couple of hours later on in the week as well.

Does anyone charge for these sessions?

I dont charge for settling in sessions . . . i also recently had a 9 month old start who has never been away from mum . . . first 2 hour session is cried for a bit, would settle, then realise that mum wasnt arrive and cried again . . . this set off the 20 month old . . . I found it quite stressful and not a good environment for the LOs, then we had all the snow days in January and the baby and mum couldnt make it to my house . . . eventually we did 2 x 2 hour settling in session on Saturday and Sunday and it was the best as my two boys kept him so occupied, he didnt realise mum left and didnt cry at all (we actually had lots of smiles) and has not had anymore separation anxiety . . . it worked for me and the LOs.

    Good Luck!!!

I normally do a couple of 2 hour sessions free.

At the moment I have a child doing more but his parents have been paying retainer since new year for a March start.

I also do 2 x 2 hour sessions free of charge. I get the parents to vary the hours so at least one of them includes the time the baby needs feeding.

I do 2 sessions for free - the first one is an hour - just so they know mum is coming back. the second one is longer. 2 hours or so - giving us time to get out the house or have something to eat. If parents wanted longer or more sessions I would charge. And definately do not offer any settling in sessions until contracts have been signed and deposits paid!

I don't charge for settleing in.

I had a little guy last week who was at mine with his dad for an hour then dad left for 2 hrs, next week I'm going to pre-school with mum on pick-up then he is coming to me later in the week for a session.

He starts with me 'proper' 1st week March, but I saw him today at church and he ran straight up to give a big hug, hopefully will have no problems settling in! xx

I dont charge for settling in sessions and offer the amount i think is needed for each child/parent. I try and gauge each case when offering, but i usually suggest a couple of 2 hour sessions for an older preschool child and if lunch is needed stay on the second visit.

If it is a baby and mum is leaving for the first time i usually do one where they pop to a local shop for about 45mins to hour, then a couple of hours and then if needed another, but ask that the baby is here on the second or third occasion to have a bottle or food.
