Charges for pick up and drop off

I have been asked to pick up child from home and drop off at nursery. I will have her in my care for about 10/15 mins 5 days a week, it's a 2 mile round trip. What should I charge for this?

I'm sorry to say, but I wouldn't do this.

You are basically being a taxi for this child and I'm not sure your insurance would cover you.

What would happen if you had other children that had to come putt with you? Or needed to take to school? What if your car broke down, or the weather was bad?

Would parents consider the child coming to you for the day instead of nursery?

I would not do it. I am not a taxi. The child would still be on your books/register as a EYFS child with the Ofsted/DofE's expectations of learning and dev etc etc. Impossible in a car! Impossible even to build any relationship with the child. You'd need to call your car insurer, as there maybe issues there, and if you are with Pacey I'd call them too for advise.
You are a childcare professional and educator, not a taxi.
Not sure if that helps. Maybe the family should look for a nanny.

Also think of contingency plans if your car is unavailable or we have severe weather

I did it once many years ago but never again. That was when I didn't say no to any request even if it wasn't very practical! I've seen sense in my later years and wouldn't do things that I really didn't want to and as some have said we are not a taxi service we are professional childminders and should be recognised as such.
