I think you have been unlucky
It's up to you how you run your business and we all do it different.
I don't ask for a deposit ... But that's me ...I've had parents let me down too so I don't think it matters
Keep your chin up,onwards and upwards someone else will come along soon

For me if they want to start right away, then I don't ask for a deposit, if its a few weeks away, ie mum is starting a new job but a little unsure of when her start date is, I ask for a small deposit £50 sometimes less if its only for before school,
If its a few mths away I ask for £100
And deducted it on their last bill, that way I try to insure I get paid if they leave

Bunyip,This is fab..I've been thinking about including something like this in my fees policy....most parents seem fine with the way I do things, but I want to make it crystal clear in my policy too.Would you mind if I pinched some of your wording? (exept for the last bit as I normally use deposit as Kittycat does ie: to cover final month's fees). Thanks for putting it so clearly.
