Your business your rules as you can see lots of different ways of doing it.

Thing to think about it - if you introduce payment for the day but you say you are not available will your curent parents like it? Will they see it as you wanting more money out of them but not wanting to work. Could you consider just introducing it for new parents?

Also a note not every parent will get paid extra money for working bank holidays. My dh doesnt bh and weekends are part of his working week so no extra for him.
I agree with fussyelmo . I look at it from parents point of view. And the major fact people forget. Being self employed is not the same as employed. There is no entitlement at all, it's how you run business.
My opinion, it's the risks we take to have our own business so why should we expect holiday pay, or bank hols.

I don't charge for Bank Holidays as I don't work them. My simple fee structure is if I am open you pay, if I am closed you don't, saves so much bad feeling and awkwardness.

When I started many years ago it was custom to charge for Bank Holidays but not work them, personally this doesn't sit well with me and being self-employed I find it hard to justify to parents why I would charge when I won't work.

    My opinion

I'm the same, I'm in Scotland which makes it more difficult as you Bank Holidays (when the banks close but some business are open), Public holidays when the Banks open but other businesses may be closed and Local Holidays which vary from area to area so there may be a local holiday in my town but where the parents work it may be different!! It's all very confusing - especially to me as I only moved up here 2 years ago!

Decided to keep it simple, I'm open - you pay, I'm closed you don't pay.
