    Default government funding

Hi, can anyone tell me how much you get for funded places for pre schhol age children? I am considering offering the funded spaces but need to know how much will get for them as if it is less than my hourly rate then will need to really consider if it is worth it or not! thanks in advance and hopefully someone will know the answer!! x

government funding is worth less than my hourly rate. i cant take them yet, but plan on doing so. i figured that if i can fill all my spaces then great, but since alot of parents work part time, or extended family help with childcare, it is likely that i may have an awkward morning or afternoon spot that i cant fill with a full fee paying parent, but it would be perfect for someone looking for childcare purely because of the funding, they can slot in anywhere. so i might lose a little but gain more

You can call your Early Years Team and ask for your area?

Re filling in an awkward spot, i had two mornings free, but was told by early years that I could not offer that for funding as it had to be full 15 hours! Even if that was all a parent wanted.

That is incorrect as I offer goverment funding for 1 child and her parents only claim 3 hrs with me , 12 hours with her pre-school.

I would check with your development worker xx

I am in Bedfordshire and we receive £3.75ph.

If we cannot offer fully flexible hours ie: 15 hours per week this is decreased by 15p to £3.60ph. I claim funding for 6hrs per week for the children I have and they claim for the other 9hrs with pre-school. But I am able to offer them the full 15hrs per week (so can claim the higher rate) as I have them for 40hrs per week, iyswim.

I get £3.49 which is 1p less than I charge

Funding is now more flexible and can be used between two settings and you can split the 15hrs
I'm in pocket at the moment as the mindee that's funded is on £3.10 with me as she's part of a family of three that attend and I gave them a discount.

I was told that I can't claim 3 hrs if they attend 9.10 - 11.55 as its not the full 3 hrs. They have to be here by 9am and leave at 12pm. No late drop offs or early pickups or they can only claim 2 hrs
