Default How would you charge ?

    Hi,

I've got a lady coming to see me next week and she has funny hours. Some weeks she will want me 7.30am-4pm Monday to Friday then some weeks only 3 days a week but same hours.

How would you charge ? Would you charge for a full time place so she pays full fees even if she doesn't use me for 2 days or would you charge her half fees on the days she doesn't use me ?

Hope that makes sense, I'm a new CM and only been working 4 weeks.

    TIA

    Jenny x

Personally I would charge her full fee's as I wouldbe unable to fill the place with a child who only needed care every other week.

However if you wanted to charge full fee one week and 3 days the next that is entirely up to you, it all depends on if you need the work to get you up and running etc,

All I will say is, don't do something you'll later regret. Your spaces are precious, I would at the very least charge a half fee.retainer.for.the two days not used, or more likely a full fee.

Course, it depends.on.how much you need the work and how busy your area is, so its a tough one x
Apologies for the random full stops. Phone buttons too small, thumbs too big.

    I agree with Laura S

If I needed the work, I'd consider charging half fees (a retainer) for the short week, but if not, I'd be charging full fees as the chances of you finding someone that wants 2 days a fortnight are slim to none.

I've just taken on a mindee whose Mum work shifts and have agreed that they can have up to 5 days per calendar month at half fees if the child is not with me. Any extra days that the child is not with me will be at full fees.

Parents seemed happy with this and to me it works out about the same financially as a term time only child with half fees in the holidays.

I think I would go with full pay for hours used, half for those not and see the 2 days not worked as being a bonus as I would still get paid half fee.
