Hi
I eventually got a reply from my DO earlier this week - "The LA and NCMA will be providing some training opportunities at some point but due to restricted funding we don't know when that will be yet" !!!
Our 3 local children's centre's had there's last friday and the feedback was that they and LEA nurseries are going to have to do more 'parent friendly' obs.........Brings them in line with us don't you think
Oh and I'm in Somerset
My local venues are fully booked for short course introducing new EYFS. They have added more days.............midweeks in the daytime what are they thinking?!
Happy to be back with the Greenies
Well were I am they have got 2 briefing session for nursery managers and 1 for after school groups to get together to discuss all the new statutory requirements and what needs to be implemented, and also to discuss with them what training they would like for their staff. When i questioned to whether the same would be provided for childminders I was told I could attend the normal practitioner one which will be in July sometime along with other nursery staff .
When I said but childminders also have to know all of the statutory changes as well I was met with silence and then a very quick im sure a session will be provided for childminders at some point
So it looks like i will have to get started with it all with help from this forum, as I doubt the childminders one will be any time soon.
in lincolnshire there are 5 dates for training, so ive booked on to my local one which is at the middle of may
I received an email with an attached flier saying that eyfs training will be available soon.
We don't have to pay in Cambridgeshire.
It seems there is a wide variety of training opportunities available but not nearly enough. What I don't understand is how can we all be assessed equally by Ofsted when we don't receive equal training opportunities?
Not received any news of local training yet, but I have just booked on to the NCMA webinars they are holding at the small cost of £68.30 for 7 sessions!!! but I'm sure it will be worth it.....
Have had our briefing dates through (Somerset).... all during the day except one, have applied for that one and written a note to say that so I don't have to close and let parents down I can only attend this particular session. I'm waiting for a reply.... it's for next Thursday.
I've just got a letter from my LA with 2 sessions to attend about the new EYFS. AND they've actually got 2 different time slots! Evening or day time!
Currently not minding
I have been offered 2 course regarding the EYFS to attend in June free of charge.
Also next weekend I will be attending the Nursery Show which is a 2 day conference and a lot of it is based around the EYFS I will be happy to share this information.

Hi I have booked on NCMA webinar had my 1st session on Thur 19th April Characteristics of effective learning.I personaly thought it was waste time as all tutor did was read of the new EYFS paper work which I all ready got and can read. The other students online never put a lot of input in as I am new and not got any mindies I couldnt realy put in any input.I would rather have been in classroom and interacting that way never mind all payed now so got another 6 sessions to go but my posional opion would be wait for class based training thats my view.

Thanks for that feed back. I was wondering about the webinars but wasn't sure if it was for me! I wonder if anyone else has had a better experience.
In Swindon Wiltshire I understand it is still being written. It has always been free in the past as it was compulsory but not sure this time.

NCMA are doing the webinar training sessions at the moment. There are 7 available. I did the first one last night. I have booked for all 7 and it works out approx £7 for each one but if i attended one with local council which they have not orgainised yet we dont know if they are free and i would have had petrol costs to add anyway.
I was quite impressed with it.

I had a call about that last week and I haven't been able to get through to the phone number yet!
I was quite shocked when I saw how much it was for all the training so I am glad
I couldn't get through. I can't see that there are so many differences that it is worth nearly £80 to find out to be honest.
