I'm sure they will help lots of poeple, thanks for sharing.

I must admit though that I'm still worried as to the linking to EYFS, I see that you use a sort of tick box for the aspects, which could well be fine, I'm not saying you are wrong, but I keep getting feedback that we should be linking to the development matters within each aspect

I see what you are saying pauline.

What I do is use the individual weekly plan to highlight the development matters area I am working on, and use the next steps from the obs sheet to feed into that plan. On the obs sheet I highlight the area that the obs has covered so that for my reference I can see at a glance over time any areas that are lacking

    Does that make sense?

    Hi

Thanks for sharing - I may amend the weekly planning sheet to a monthly planning sheet as all my children only attend 2 days a week and attend pre school in the morning so I would struggle to cover everything.

    Thanks again

Yes mine is similar too which makes me feel much better

I have been using mine for an 18 month old and whilst I know we do not plan for a child under 3 I have found that it helps me as I continue with what he is interested in.

    Hope this makes sense.

A few weeks ago N was playing with some coloured bobbins, when J asked him to pass her the green one, he said geeen and passed her the correct bobbin - yes a fluke I know. However, I wrote on his planning sheet what he had done and we have since concentrated on the colour green. Made green play doh, turned sand green, been for a walk and pointed all things out that were green, done hand prints with green paint and stuck green leaves on card to make collages.

No idea if what I have done is right (is there a right and wrong way?) As I said I know we do not need or should not plan for under 3's but each thing I have done with him has been stuff he has enjoyed and been interested in, so is it wrong or right?

Sounds wonderful to me! and I don't think there is a right or wrong way, what works for you is the 'right way'

I would have also wrote it up as an observation and said that next steps where what you did with the colour green things and then followed up with a note that you had actually done it.

Hi the individual weekly planning sheet looks great. can i just clarify, would i complete an observation ( which i number) then on the planning sheet continue with extending the obs trying to use the 6 ELG ? does that make sense ?

    Perfect sense

I do the detailed obs on my sheet ( and put a briefer version in the learning journey for parents as we have discussed it and they dont want all the next steps etc in, they just want a nice record with pics and post its), then use what I have identified as next steps to feed into the planning sheet for the following week.
