Hi. I friend who is a childminder has asked me a question. She will soon be looking after the child of her best friend. She will not be charging anything for this child. Does she still need to do obs and planning and LJ etc?
Thanks.

Why is she not charging? Is she mad?!!
Yes she still needs to follow the eyfs x
If he is on contract than yes
She is not charging as it is her best friend who is like a sister to her. I dont know if she will do a contract.
I'd advise her to act as though she was being paid & do everything exactly the same as the other children. Ofsted don't care about the financial side of our businesses but I think she might get marked down on inspection if she hasn't got a learning journey etc for him
I would say no as no payment is received then it isn't childminding.obviously she will have to reduce numbers by one to accommodate
Why doesn't she ask Ofsted? They will tell her yes or no is imagine, it's a unique situation. I'd imagine its a yes, or people could always say 'its my friends baby, I'm not receiving payment' even though they are so they don't have to do paperwork.
But doesn't the rules say u can childmind for 2 hours and not be classed as cm but Over that u are or am I wrong?
Either way child comes in with her numbers
I know its an odd situation. I may get her to ring ofsted and ask.
I'd suggest she asks Ofsted
Good advice to call Ofsted. Not so long a go, wasn't there a lot of upset about friends having to have police checks etc to be able to look after each others children, for no pay. After a lot of who- are, they were exempt. Would be interested to know!
When I find out I will post on here for info.
