Eyfs ratios
Hi there girls and guys
Just a quick brain fumble for you all
I have my own 8 month old
Been asked to look after a 9 month old
Read ofsteds EYFS about exceptions like because one is actually my own child it states ratio can be changed.
Now previously this was quite clear cut on "not for new business"
So I call ofsted,
Their response, we won't tell you what to do follow EYFS page 22. Which states only "exemptions can be made if childminder caring for own baby" so I said is that the case for new business and got told "new business no longer counts just comply with EYFS"
So thanks a bunch ofsted no help.com !
I guess what I'm asking is any one know of any guide or rules that would help? I'm not taking on the baby just incase but from what EYFS says and what I got told by ofsted it doesn't matter wether its for new business I can grant an exemption if I feel I can provide correct care and don't go over my limits.
Just wanted to see what others think because even though norm is one under one techniqually eyfs says exemption for own baby
Confused lol

I'm not sure but I thought if you already minded an under one and then had a baby yourself you could make the exemption but not if you already have your own child under one and then want to take an under one mindee
A may be wrong but somebody on the forum will know

You can only change the conditions of your registration for continuity of care in exceptional circumstances as detailed in the EYFS... not for new business.
You will find more information in this document in free resources
