    Default What does this mean?

In the Development Matters book - page 16 what does this mean please (30-50 months)?

Focusing attention - still listen or do, but can shift own attention.

    Thanks,
    Linda

You have to look at it in the context of the previous similar comments.

The child in earlier ages and stages cannot do 2 things at once but this is what they are working towards...

so here they can start to think about more than one thing at a time - they are not quite at the 'multi tasking' stage yet - but they are getting there.

"...can shift own attention" means you don't have to call their name or use the pointy stick to get them to shift attention from one thing to another.

The UK regime wants children multi-tasking asap, so employers can save money by giving workers 2 jobs to do for the price of 1 salary.

"Multi-tasking" = the ability to do 2 things badly at the same time.

Ah, if you're going to get away with that kind of misandry....

If Mrs Bunyip claims she can multi-task, then why can't she sit down and shut up.
