My Inspection!

Well it happened today! Not quite unannounced as she had phoned on Monday to check whether my husband could be around.

It went really well and she was here for 3 hours. Bit naughty as the time slot they are allocated for childminders is 1 hour but we had so much to talk about. We had lengthy discussions about the new inspection procedures and she confirmed that there will now be two different types. In a four year inspection cycle we will each be inspected once on all four self assessment areas (Quality of Life, Quality of staffing, Quality of Leadership and management and Quality of Environment) and the other inspection will focus on just Quality of Life. She gave me the full monty as she is moving teams in the Autumn and so will be passing my case over to a more local inspector

I had written a very comprehensive SAS and as she has a very dry sense of humour she commented on how long it had taken her to read it! also commented on the number of parent questionnaires that had been returned

. She also made me laugh when she said she had wondered who was going to be inspecting who!

She was very complimentary of my practice, and the children (and my husband) were very well behaved

.

Her final comments were trying to persuade me to apply for her job when she retires in 2 years so I guess she liked what she saw

.

So all in all a very pleasant day x

Congratulations Manjay - I bet she did feel like you were inspecting her.

And yes you would make a good inspector - but would you want to be the person who caused panic and worry?
