    Default Activities for Babies!!!

    Hi,
I am just trying to do my medium planning for this I have decided to do it monthly with a theme

So for November i have a winter theme.

However I cannot find many activities that I can do with baby's ( 8 mnth, 12 mnth and 18mnth ) that tie in with winter theme.
I thought if I could fit 1 planned activity in for each area of learning per month then that would be 1-2 a week.

I have thought to do water play and include ice cubes and then my mind has gone blank!
    any suggestions????

how about some jelly put them in a high chair and let them play with it with their hands we did this with a group of children and it was fun watching who would touch who wouldnt and who would only touch if they had a spoon.

you could turn this into a food texture thing

also a bowl of spagetti that they can play with and hide things in there for them to find and explore

making foot prints with diffrent wellies like foot prints in the snow

making cut out people with cut out winter clothes that they can colour and stick on their people

make snow flake biscuits with white icing and shiney toppings

    erm thinking lol

might add more later just use aprons and cover them head to toe lol

You could make glitter shakers with small pop bottles and help the children to put sequins and glitter in then fill with water.

a basket of winter storybooks/poems, my library has winter touchy feely books?

a basket full of winter dressing up clothes... hats/gloves/scarves

a christmas treaure basket with tinsel, gold bead strings, bells, soft tree decorations such as snowman, reindeer, santa etc.

handprint reindeer.... you draw a reindeer head and then paint hand and press down to make antlers with the fingers pointing up.

erm, that's all my ideas for now!

similar to the above but santa clause. paint the hand white and print onto paper fingers down, draw a red hat on top a face and put a line of cotton wool along the plam so that the fingers look like santas beard xx

I don't plan yet for this age group and we use routines but have a look at activity village and dltk kids for ideas as they have great ones.

Also do you subscribe to MM as they put the Creative Steps book on their website I believe and this is split into age groups - awaiting the arrival of mine in hard copy right now!
