You can buy it from tesco, I buy it for cleaning. I was also under the impression that it is an irritant. My mum recently informed me she used to put it on my head when I was a baby to get rid of cradle cap!
Also, I have made the corn flour/water one many years ago when I was teachng. Can't remember the recipe please can I have it.

    Thanks

Found this recipe for gloop with borax, haven't tried it yet

Homemade slime can provide hours of fun for your children. Here's how to make it yourself.
    Difficulty: Easy
    Time required: 15 minutes
    Here's How:
    1. In a glass or ceramic bowl, add 1/2 cup water and 1 cup white glue.
    2. Stir in 4 drops food colouring if desired.
    3. In another bowl, dissolve 1/2 teaspoon borax in 1/2 cup water.
    4. Slowly add the dissolved borax mixture to the glue mixture. Stir well.
    5. When not in use, store in a tightly sealed jar.
    Tips:
    1. Borax can usually be found next to the laundry detergent in your grocery store.
    2. Encourage your children to play with this outdoors as it's messy.
    What You Need:
    • Borax
    • White Glue
    • Water
    • Food Colouring
    • Spoon

They sell it in JTF wholesale branches in - Mansfield, Leeds, Wednesbury, Hucknall, Stoke, Newcastle, Sheffield, Warrington, Lincoln, & Preston.

Childminders can join and its cheap - I love it there.

    2. Mix seperately 1/2 tsp borax and 1/2 cup water (B)
    3. Slowly pour borax mix into paint mix and leave to stand

Stick to cornflower and water, they can eat it and not come to any harm
