Cardboard box instruments
I've been saving up the boxes that my blue gloves come in (for nappy changing).
I popped some elastic bands around these, and the children are having great fun finding all the ways to make music with them. So sweet! It's turned into a lovely activity - I just had to share.
All the best,
L

Great idea - I tried something similar using top of egg boxes but the elastic bands were too strong and the lid bent, we have shakers made out of pringles pots with dry rice in.

Great idea! I save tissue boxes ( one is collecting my Sainsburys vouchers at the mo) as a LO loves to put his feet in them and slide around ( discovered accidently) but this is a much better use!
Thankyou for that recycling idea!
Now I need to find that ball of elastic bands ....

My own and minded children have always loved playing drums with old sweet tins and wooden spoons - always a good excuse to have to buy tins at Christmas
And as a child I can remember making tissue box guitars with a kitchen roll middle as a handle (I know a guitar doesn't have a handle, but I can't think of the proper name!)

Wow - I didn't think about kitchen roll handles. I love this!
Talking about childhood games, I spent ages over the Easter holidays teaching my two (13 and 7) to play Hopscotch (or as I used to call it - Aeroplane Beds). We used the number 1 to 10, and each square was one square meter. (So it stretched from one end of our front garden fence to the other, taking up the whole pavement outside.)
We used a 'peever' to throw as our 'marker' (a Kiwi shoe polish tin with stones in it). We played for about an hour solid each time - only coming in for snacks and drinks, and a lot of hopping involved. The next day, I was in agony!!! Seriously, to all those people thinking of joining a gym. Try hopscotch. It was amazing exercise.

Mine all love to wear them as shoes/skates too! It really makes me laugh! They decorate them and take it so seriously. DD has enough for a small shoe shop stored in her desk cupboard.
