A alphabet activity using bottle tops
Jillplum on another thread has just mentioned about collecting bottle tops and it made me remember a activity that i made from some of the 500 bottle tops I have collected.
I used stickers for the letters however you could just use marker pens to make the letters. My little girl loves these though as she is very sensory in her learning so she can feel the letters with her finger as well as look at it. Montessori teaching believes in giving young children sandpaper letters so that as they are learning letters they can touch the shape of the letter to help them learn, so when i found these foam letters i thought it was kind of the same idea.

I have stuck foamy stickers on different plastic bottle tops and we did printing with them, can use shapes etc, letters do come out backwards but doesn't matter....

Oooh great idea, I have hundreds of bottle tops too. It would be good to find them in lower case too, school don't like them learning the capitals particularly
-
Yes was just going to say, more emphasis on lower case letter formation initially but nonetheless a great idea.

Yes, I just bought a phonic bus toy from Argos half price today and that has capital letters which is confusing although I guess they all know capitals from a younger age these days by using ipads etc!

Thanks they look great. We've got numbers stuck on our tops at the moment and play hunt and match games in the sand and rice etc

Great idea, I always throw the bottle tops out but will start keeping them, we go through loads of milk so won't take long to build up a good collection.

Ooh I like, thanks for sharing, will have to look out for some letters but in the meantime will use my foamy number stickers
I had been using them as play money for the children to use.
Thanks for the idea.
