Default Farm topic ideas for 1-2 year olds??

Hello! This is my first post on here sooo hi everyone!

We are about to start a new topic about the farm and was hoping for some ideas! We have thought of the obvious things, e.g. trip to the farm, small world farm etc but some more unique exciting activities would be much appriciated! Also if anyone has any ideas for any good books to read with 2 year olds about the farm then we would love to hear!!

Thanks if advance for any ideas your willing to share!!

Usbourne do a nice range of stories about Apple Tree Farm.

Making animal masks from paper plates.

    Planting seeds to make crops.

Large scale group project to make a farm - using large sheet of card and making hills, trees, fences and ponds etc and painting it. Then little ones can use it to play with small world toys.

Animal sounds bingo. Print out some bingo cards with some photos of farm animals (even maybe a tractor) on them, record some sounds using the internet and get the children to cover the pictures when they hear the sounds. First to cover all their pictures, wins!

I have a complete set of old style elc farm animals which I have photographed individually and laminated. I use these in a number of way's - matching into 'families' (bull, cow, calf etc), talking about what each animal produces food wise, and today for instance I had the farm box out, animals dotted around and with the 2 lo's I had I was giving them a card, asking them to name the animal and do the sound and then find the actual animal to match the card. They absolutely loved it

We have a large deep sided tray for our sensory play, we put compost in it and twigs etc. after we have touched the compost to talk about the feel.... soft/ hard, hot/cold, what does it smell like etc.
We add the farm animals and say their names/ make the noises and decide the best place to put/group them. we make roads/bridges with the twigs.
We add the tractor/ harvester etc.

The children love it but I must be honest... I only do this outside

I have a lovely book called Spend a Day on the Farm published by DK. It's written from the point of view of a little girl called Molly and her brother Sam who live on a farm and is full of photos of them and the animals, tractors, animal houses etc. The children take you round the farm showing you what you have to do to look after the animals and there are facts for each one like "a male chicken is called a cockerel..." There's also a map of the farm and a dvd of the animals. It's perfect for reading right through, dipping in and out of or just looking at the pictures!
