    Question Advent Calendar

My 8 year old mindee wants to make an advent calendar to keep here, any ideas what I could do with her? I have done the santa's with the number beards with the little ones but they are far too young for big mindee!

I'm planning on using toilet roll & kitchen roll tubes.

Cut them into about 2 inch lengths & stick 24 of them to a piece of card in a tree shape (one at the top, 3 on the next row etc). Paint them all, then put something litlte inside each one (a picture, a small sweet etc) and cover with a numbered piece of paper.

I'll let you know how it turns out!

Edit: this is where I got the idea from, but I'm going to do a tree shape.

My immediate thought would be matchboxes stuck together .......

We've used the small dinner money envelopes stuck on a shape (tree, stocking). Mindees decorated the envelopes and numbered them and we put chocolate coins in each one

I am doing this with all of mine. Older ones decorate their tree in their way and the little ones have painted theirs

I cheated this year and bought colouring in advent calendars but my friend suggested paper chains with numbers on them, so the older ones make the chain in number order and then every day they remove the one with the correct date on.

I liked that one too but the boxes looked too fiddly for my liking

that looks good Cherry. I have a 21 month old and a 9 month old. I'd like to try crafts with them but even the 21 month old is reluctant to try anything vaguely arty!!
