Default Make your concerns about the Govt's plans known!

This letter has been written by childminders - for childminders.

Letter to Dept for Education - MAC.doc

I have also uploaded the letter onto the Forum Blog -

    http://www.childmindinghelp.co.uk/fo...care-plan.html

    .........................

The contributors to this letter strongly believe that the time has come to tell the Govt what we think about their 'More affordable childcare' plan.

According to a recent freedom of information request from the Dept for Education, only 21 letters have been received about agencies -

    https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/reque...es_expressions

This is hardly an outcry! This is not making ourselves heard!

This is not telling the Department for Education loudly and clearly that childminders do not want childminder agencies.

If we do not let them know, then they will feel justified to carry on potentially devastating our businesses....

So, I propose a letter writing / email sending / twitting campaign!

    .................

How you might use this letter

We want to make it easy for you to send the Dept for Education your thoughts about 'More Affordable Childcare' - and especially agencies.

Write - add a note saying ‘I agree with this letter and its contents’ and your signature; then print and send a copy of the letter to -

Department for Education, Castle View House, East Lane, Runcorn WA7 2GJ

Email - write a cover email saying ‘I agree with this letter and its contents’, add your name and email the letter as an attachment to -

    https://www.education.gov.uk/help/contactus/dfe

Be inspired to write a letter of your own - and send a copy to -

    • Department for Education (address above)

    • By email to - Ms Truss, Childcare and Education Minister - elizabeth.truss@education.gsi.gov.uk

    • David Cameron, Prime Minister, 10 Downing Street, London SW1A 2AA

    • Your MP - if you are not sure of the name of your MP you can find it here - Search (Find Your MP) - UK Parliament

Tweet the letter link to - @educationgovuk or @trussliz -

    http://www.childmindinghelp.co.uk/fo...care-plan.html

For the cost of a few stamps and a little time please, please send this letter to the Dept for Education or use it as the basis for your own letter!

It is so important that we make ourselves heard before it is too late.

I Tweeted the link on #EYTalking last night which is a FB group with lots of professionals from other sectors such as nurseries - asking for their support.

It's already been re-tweeted 3 times and I will keep posting it until the message gets through!

We supported them over ratios - in my opinion they should step up and help us now!

How's the letter writing going guys?

Rather strangely when I asked the question what they thought about agencies the only reply came from a cm....we are not going to get as much support as we offered them

So we need to step up our campaign and get very pro active now...the agencies do not return to the Lords until October BUT pilots will start in 6 weeks time and still no naming those interested!!! I bet the vast majority will be LAs....????

Thanks for this Sarah, I have just sent a coverning note with your letter attached asking that it be logged as a objection against childminder agencies and other issues with More Affordable Childcare. I will send some more emails later on today.

Sarah...are we keeping track of how many letters are being sent? we don't want the DfE saying we only got a handful of objections...like the 21 mentioned before by them....joke that!!

Wonder if it is worth involving the Lords again?

I have emailed a few Lords but not had any replies.

I am not keeping a tally except on the threads x

Please write to the DfE objecting to agencies...we need to write in thousands not just a few
Lets show them that if they have lost our previous objections we will not be ignored this time

They need lots of letters on their desk telling them we do not want agencies

Sarah's letter is excellent, just download and send it off
If you want to write your own ...just one sentence will do: I am against agencies!

Do a copy for your parents and include it with yours....or get them to sign yours
You can handwrite it or do on your computer ...whatever suits you best...just do it please and do it now not later, not when I have time...make time now!

We must write 'individually' because numbers count...if you can send the same letter to Clegg...could he intervene as he did in the ratios?
send a copy to your MP

This forum achieved 53,000 signatures against ratios...imagine 50,000 letters landing on the DfE's desk

    Thank you
