***** respond to Truss' idea of mums running afetr school care
***** do not seem so keen on Truss' latest brainstorming idea...anyone on *****??
Parents 'to run after-school clubs' under proposals to lengthen school day

This woman gets better and better!
Will the parents get first aid training, will they get paid?
It says: Truss called for parents to be more demanding of schools to stay open longer and reduce the burden of childcare.. Have the parents said they want this? Do they want their children in school all day?
I actually had an enquiry yesterday where the parent knew about an after school club but specifically said he wanted to use a childminder, just so the child was somewhere different during the day

I went through a spate of gaining lots of children from the after school club. OK it wasn't at the actual school but at a sports centre on the campus but it was run like a school and the children liked coming here to chill if they wanted to not be forced into more activities

It doesn't make sense to me. If these clubs are to be run by volunteers what parents will be around to do it. Parents who work, want the club but cant help and mums that don't work will simply take their kids home. I can't see it happening or it probably won't last. Volunteers have a habit of getting fed up or finding they have other commitments
