Thanks for the link Sarah - it's such depressing reading tho isn't it. Wonder if it's true about Twiggs views - the one light at the end of a dark tunnel I could see was a general election, but if that is his view perhaps not.

She just trots out her set pieces whether or not they correspond to the question!

Yes I will set about letter writing this weekend - it's disgusting that correspondence isn't even being answered.

And I wish I knew where all these parents are that are looking for childcare! Certainly not in my area - we are overwhelmed with childminders, nurseries, after-school clubs etc!!

Yes - sustainability is worrying a lot of childminders

If nurseries get ratios of 1 adult to 6 x 2 year olds and keep their 1 adult to 13 x 3 year olds (all shoehorned into small rooms because the space requirements are going to be dropped) then where is our work coming from ??

And these same nurseries are going to be our agencies... and send us work while they have spaces in their ratios ???

    I can see that happening!

I pick up from 2 different pre-schools. One is definately upping the number of children and they will get them because they are servicing an area where the mums just want to children at school as long and often as poss. The other one is much more organised, considerate of children welfare and in a better area and they are totally against the ratio change.
I'm wondering how it will affect their numbers though if the other nurseries around them have more spaces.

There are around 25 minders in my town, most without work.

I've struggled to get myself full without a single phonecall in two years. Where are all the parents wanting childminders ???

If more people are encouraged to start up that's a huge problem for me

I've already written to her two weeks ago, no reply yet although it will go in one ear and out the other

And no she is not listening because she is believes she is right and that is a dangerous.

I live in a deprived area and where is the money coming from to pay foe these qualifications. Higher ratios are there to fund the increase in salaries.

At time is she considering the poor children

As much as this pains me (but an entirely different story) we need to get labour on side they may not be your mp but wirte to the nearest one in your area.

how on earth does she expect agencies to encourage there to be MORE minders. Oh yes, I'll give minding a go and give a cut of my income to the agency people!

For heavens sake, keep the LA early years teams in place to advise and support - don't take them away. Oh there is so much wrong with this woman and her mindset - she is looking like an idiot - she is going to hang herself out to dry.

Going to chase up a response from my local mp
