I blame the sun for the slowish progress today- hoping for a massive boost to numbers when everyone comes back inside

I emailed 13 childminding associations last night including notts and county so its great that they have forwarded it to members - very reassuring, let hope the others follow suit.

I'm seeing it on Twitter loads and facebook is heaving - I have been posting on Facebook 3 times a day - reminding people to sign and forward - remember people might be on holiday or away for the daY and miss it if it goes to the bottom of the news feed - so keep posting regularly so we tell everyone.

I spent the morning with several childminders - non of which had heard of the issue - all said they would sign and forward to families and fellow childminders - we just have to keep talking to everyone and anyone.

Woo Hoo over 1000. Please everybody dont just put a link in facebook, also send a private message to some of your closest friends to make sure they fill it in for you. I sent it to 25 people this morning by private message and so far 18 have read their message and completed it because once they have read your private message they cant say no

I have also sent a email out to 70 of my local childminders asking them to please fill and pass in, however when i sent the last one regarding the NCMA survey no one responded to my email, so I can only hope that they have all heard some of the news over the last few days and decide to sign the survey.

Anyhow off track a bit there, please also get any family member over 18 with a email address to sign the survey, we need all the names we can.

So pleased that my challenge to reach 1000 signatures has been exceeded.

However that is 1% of those needed - we must keep going.

I reckon we can do 2000 by tomorrow morning! It's been slow and steady today, but as people are finishing work, already the count is going up much more quickly!

I have managed to get 8 signatures that I know of, so not amazing, but hopefully if those 8 pass it on to 8 more who sign and pass it on, etc, etc, I won't have done too badly!

yes i've noticed that too - we're getting a steady stream coming through now and its building nicely through the evening.

I have a facility on the petition to email updates to people - so when we get to specific targets we can do a mass email encouraging people to up the anti and repost on Facebook to get more signatures.

Just been nosing at the petition again and noticed that the facebook share option is now asking me if I want to message my friends to invite them to sign. I was all for it, until I realised that it says ALL of my friends 'has not signed this petition' when I know for a fact that a few of them (friends from here) have signed it! I don't want to go messaging people asking them to sign, if they already have

    Why is this part wrong?

I don't know Janis - it appear to be broken, I noticed this earlier. Send it to them again anyway - it comes up on their wall and if they forgot to repost on Facebook then you have told their friends for them. I am pretty tenacious -and end up reposting repeatedly

Just go on the page - copy link from the status bar at top and then paste it in your email.

I badgered the teachers at the school I pick up from today and I have emailed the Headmaster and sort of said "as fellow professionals in child care could you please sign this petition and if possible get a newsletter out to all parents as I am sure the future of all our young childrens welfare is important to you too. I havent had a reply yet. but most of my facebook friends have signed from all over the country x
