I do mine on line so I don't think I get one of those......all I get is an A5 brown envelope telling me its time...............

was a bit of a shock though when I found out how much tax I owed.......plus class 4 NI.........plus 50% up front on account for next year ....never earned as much as this year before

Know exactly how you feel.I sit with my account book every week all year and check it endlessly before I submit.I feel compelled to have every evidence ready to back up my figures.Every year I think im ready until the envelope arrives.I too have been doing it years.
In comparison what does my friend do, look at last years tax return and fill in a similar amount taking great delight in telling me its a few minutes job!!! Does she worry and feel sick no she tells me she,ll do that just the once when she gets a call from the tax man and not every year like me!.
The more replies you get the more it will cheer you up

But when your friend gets dragged to court for tax evasion or fraud then you can sit back and be glad you worried!

Doing it right means you can sleep more peacefully at night - every night, even if you have a few worries now.

first time doing tax return...had a letter in a brown a5 envelope telling me to do it online and if I want a fom I can request one. Is that all I get? Doing mine this weekend. Havent looked online yet. Is it hard? Ive all my accounts on a spreadsheet and NCMA accounts book that parents sign each month to say they pay me. Is this going to be long winded like the SEF ????

I agree....its a worry for a while, I send it in and get the letter back saying how much I owe or dont, then I stop worrying

Mine is the little brown one reminding me to do it online. Entering the figures is the easy part. If you keep on top of your accounts it should be fine. I DON'T keep on top of mine. I am slightly better organised than last year but even then 12 months accounts only took an afternoon
