Talking can you claim 10p per mile for walking?!

Ive just been told by another childminder that you can now claim 10p a mile for every mile that you walk when childminding i.e on school runs.

I know that you can claim mileage for driving, but before i started putting walking expsenses!! in my accounts i thought i would check with you guys to see if anyone else has been told this.

    thanks

I don't think so. I may be wrong, but i can't find this on the inland revenue website. You can however claim 20p per mile for a push bike.

Nope I don't think so this one not on the list of things you can claim lol!! I would earn lots of walking miles if it was the case lol

BUT then if you have your own children you couldn't claim anyway IYSWIM!! If I drive I can only claim the way home as only got mindie in the car then lol

But surely if we walk we should be entitled to claim for a monthly pedicure at least?

No fee for walking - where is the expense and what does it cover? You can claim .20p per mile for a bike and every other one that you own that is used.

I was told this wasn't allowed as you are unlikely to have a pair of shoes/coat just for working.

what is the difference between using a push bike and getting 20p and using a buggy? You have an extra 2 wheels on the ground

I have to take my dd2 5 miles to her pre school 5 days per week. I have LO's in car so I don't claim the miles for that at the mo. one LO will attend the same pre school after the summer (with dd2) so I will claim the 40p then even though I am taking my dd2 as well.

You wouldn't claim the bike as an expense but would the buggy and that would give you a larger expense because you would claim 100%
